Folios 248-249: Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger. Isles St Marcou [Îles Saint-Marcouf]. Reply to your letter dated 9 June 1798, he encloses a letter from Serjeant John Connor of the Royal Marines now under his Command who enlisted Thomas Grubb.
Folio 250: enclosure with folios 248-249. Letter dated 15 June 1798 by John Connor, Sergeant, 114 Company Royal Marines, East Isles St Marcou [Îles Saint-Marcouf] to Charles Papps Price, HMS Badger. States being on H.M. Security Service, for the Portsmouth Division of Royal Marines, at Newbury, Berkshire in September 1797, he enlisted Thomas Grubb, who came voluntarily and he was given the enlisting Shilling and no more and sent him by W Bennet, Private Royal Marine of his party to Serjeant Ward of Reading (Being regulating Serjeant) he took no money from him and has no knowledge of his belonging to any other Corps.
