Folios 266-267: Edward Pellew, HMS Indefatigable, off Mount's Bay. Reporting that Alexander Carlisle, Robert Garland and James Brown were prisoners on board the Emilie French privateer having been captured in the American ship Columbus. Gilbert Prince who was captured by the same French privateer from the General Grey, an English South Whaler is by birth an East Indian and cannot be called an American in spite of obtaining a certificate to prevent his being impressed.. The other 3 are suspected of buying American certificates for money.
