Folios 95-96: John Philips, First Lieutenant, HMS Ardent, Yarmouth Roads. Reports his arrival and that he took commission of the ship upon the death of her Captain, Richard Rundle Burgess, who was killed on 11 October 1797 [Battle of Camperdown], ten minutes after the action commenced. Encloses a list of the killed and wounded [item not present] and a report on the ships defects. Adds that Sir Thomas Byard, HMS Bedford assisted his ship into the Roads and the carpenters made repairs to the remaining masts and bowsprit.
