Folios 67-68: Thomas Peyton, HMS Minerva, Spithead. Reports his arrival at Spithead as ordered by Sir Richard John Strachan. A copy of these orders are enclosed (folios 69-70).
Folios 69-70: enclosure with folios 67-68. Letter dated 27 March 1797 from Richard John Strachan, HMS Diamond off Cherbourg to Captain Thomas Peyton, HMS Minerva. Orders him to proceed to the Island St Marcou and supply the garrison with gunpowder to defend it and provide HMS Syren with provisions to complete the month. He is then to proceed to Spithead, replenish stores and return to St Marcou with a launch from Portsmouth. The Admiralty will give further directions when he is at Spithead.
