Folios 51-52: James Sykes, Arundel Street, Strand [London]. Encloses the commission from Commodore John Thomas Duckworth, appointing John Perkins Commander of HMS Drake. However this did not occur as the commission was given to someone already appointed. Requests that Captain John Perkins is given this rank from 25 April 1796 as endorsed by the Commission.
Folios 53-54: enclosure with folios 51-52. Orders dated 24 August 1796 from John Thomas Duckworth, HMS Cormorant, Jamaica to Lieutenant John Perkins, HMS Drake. Orders to act as Commander of HMS Drake now that Samuel Peter Forster has been appointed to HMS Albecore.
