Folios 193-194: Charles Dudley Pater, HMS Porcupine, Plymouth Sound. Reply to two letters dated 23 June 1797 and 30 June 1797, in consequence of some anonymous letters having been written to the Admiralty from the Crew of HMS Porcupine on the subject of Prize Money, which they have improperly supposed was with holden from them. As Directed he has communicated the contents of those letters to the Ships Company, and have explained to them the impropriety of their having made any application to the Admiralty, but what comes to him as Captain of the Ship, who would in every proper and reasonable request always, pay strict attention to such application, by sending it to their Lordships thro' the proper channel agreeable to the Rules of Service. He judges from this explanation their Lordships will not be troubled any more with their anonymous letters, - as he believes it proceeded intitely from ignorance.
