Description

Folios 183-184: Thomas Parr, HMS Zealand, at the Nore. States being in possession of your letter directed to Captain John Wood - HMS Hound wherein they give their directions that William Rumford should attend at the Admiralty Office the first Thursday in October last, in order for his being examined for admission into Greenwich Hospital Dated 16 August 1797 - which he suppose from HMS Hound being absent was omitted & William Runford sent to this ship as HMS Hound was going again to Sea, and being desiourious no hangers on should remain here unnecessarilyhe addrerssed you on the subject. In his last [letter] he mentioned the time of his servitude which did not appear to be deserving such notice, but he wished to fullfill their desires respecting him.

Folio 185: enclosure with folios 183-184. Letter dated 16 August 1797 by Evan Nepean, Admiralty, to Captain John Wood, HMS Hound. Directions to give William Rumford permission to attend at this office on the first Thursday in October next, in order to his being examined for admission into Greenwich Hospital.
