Folio 238: Edward Pellew. The Birmingham, American ship, Master Jonah Lovell went from Bordeaux to Hamburgh with 60 sail of neutrals on 10 April 1795. She reports that Bordeaux is very clamorous for bread and the King. The people are publicly drinking the health of the King Louis 17th. Since the reign of assination began, five or six people have been stabbed daily. The captain said he was at the theatre when an actor who was reputed to be in favour of the king was murdered on stage and the officials who were present told the audience not to interfere or they would be killed too.
