Folios 264-265: Edward Pellew, HMS Arethusa, off Portland. He is unsure whether Sir John Warren has landed so reports that the Squadron has successfully fought with a group of French frigates. HMS Arethusa is towing the French ship, La Pomone, which is described as being one of the best ships in the French navy. The engagement lasted for over 3 hours before the La Pomone and the corvette La Babet struck. HMS Melampus, Concorde and La Nymphe pusued the rest of the French ships, though he suspects that the enemy will have escaped due to their ships being faster.
