Folios 203-204: Thomas Pasley, HMS Bellerophon, at sea. Reports that he separated from the Channel Fleet under Admiral Earl Howe to pursue a French squadron of six sail of the line, two frigates and two sloops, but had to break off the chase on 22 November when in sight of four French ships with only the frigates HMS Latona and HMS Phoenix in company. He subsequently meet up with HMS Vanguard and HMS Phaeton and is now cruising at the designated rendezvous off Ushant. Yesterday they captured the French corvette La Blonde of 20 guns under the command of Citizen Guerin, which he has sent into Plymouth. He will send a frigate into Falmouth periodically for fresh orders, but otherwise will cruise for 10 days and then proceed to Torbay. The corvette was bound for Brest with information about the British and Dutch convoys currently at sea.
