Folios 303-304: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS St Lawrence, Kingston. Reports that some guns were sunk in a schooner which drifted from Fort George and was carried over the Niagara Bar. He ordered Capain Collier of HMS Niagara to attempt salvage, and 5 were saved, as expalined in the Captain's letter. The circumstances have been reported by Major General Robinson, to the Commander of the Forces, so that the Navy can be renumerated. In the meantime, Joseph Dickinson has been ordered home and should not receive payment in Quebec.
Folios 305-306: enclosure with folios 303-304. Letter dated 8 October 1815 from Edward Collier, HMS Niagara, Kingston, to ?Captain Owen. As ordered, he proceeded to attempt recovery of the guns lost near Fort Niagara. Describes the efforts of a a member of his crew, Joseph Dickinson, who voluntarily dived and recovered 5 of them. His attempt continued for 5 days. Requests some form of allowance in recognition of his efforts.
