Description

Folios 271-172: Charles Payne, HMS St Lawrence, Kingston. Lists a number of papers sent for information. Not present: report number 1, 5 and 6.

Folios 272-276: enclosure with folios 271-172. Copy report dated 20 July 1815 from Jonathon Aldersley, Quartermaster of Shipwrights attached to Captain Owen, to Captain Owen.

Folios 278- 285: enclosure with folios 271-272. Copy report dated 20 July 1815 from Captain Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, Ryer's Creek, near Norfolk regarding his travels to Grand River, Norfolk, and survey of the bay between Turkey Point and Long Point.

Folios 286-289: enclosure with folios 271-172. Copy report dated 1 July 1815 from Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Netley, Lake Ontario, regarding his inspection as ordered of the area around the Bay of Quinte.

Folios 290-294: enclosure with folios 271-272. Copy report dated 15 August 1815 from Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Huron, Turkey Point, Lake Erie, to Captain Bourchier, Commanding the Lake Erie establishment regarding sites for vessels over the winter, and instructions for carrying out a survey of suitable sites.

Folios 294-295: enclosure with folios 271-272: Copy report dated 22 July 1815 from Jonathon Aldersley, Ryer's Creek, to Captain Owen regarding an estimate of the timber required to build 4 ships and to construct a naval yard at Turkey Point. Also a comment on the availability of iron ore.
