Description

Folios 270: Commodore Sir Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Saint Lawrence, Kingston. With reference to his letter No 24 of 30 May 1815, having called on Mr Edgecombe for a statement of the circumstances under which the Prise Money was paid by him to Lieutenant William Drew for the people in prison. He encloses a copy of his reply and an Account which is enclosed.

Folios 271-272: enclosure with folio 270. Thomas Edgecombe, Purser, Naval Yard, Kingston. Reply to letter dated 15 June 1815 enclosing a List of Seaman and [Royal] Marines claiming Prize Money for Captures made on Lake Champlain that in compliance witha verbal order from Captain Pring he obtained as near as possible the names of those men who were prisoners of War in the United States and who were entitled to share for the prise money he them held, an order as he requested , to make up thecsums and remit them by Lieutenant William Drew, who was at the time of Capture the Senior Lieutenant of HMS Linnet and who was then at the Isle aux Noix [Île aux Noix] on parole for the purpose of taking the Officers Baggage to the States, on completing the list he paid Mr Drew £105-1s-9d takingb his receipt for the same (copy of which enclosed) Folios 273-274: enclosure with folio 270. List of Names and Amounts of Prise Money given to Lieutenant Mr Drew 28 September 1814. Signed William Drew [as receipt].
