Description

Folios 209-210: Dowell O'Reilly, HMS Lyra, Spithead. Covering letter for the enclosed Order from Richard Budd Vincent and request the usual remuneration for expenses. The Honourable Major John Maitland having been received on board at Malta on 16 May 1815 & discharged at Naples on 24 May 1815.

Folios 211-211A: enclosure with folios 209-210. Letter dated 15 May 1815 by Richard Budd Vincent, HMS Trident, Malta to Dowell O'Reilly, HMS Lyra. States His Excellency Lieutenant-General Sir Thomas Maitlaind having represented the need to a confidential person with dispatches' to communicate with the Austrians, now advancing towards Naples. You are directed to receive on board The Honourable Major John Maitland and land him at Naples. You will wait ten days for him and return to Malta.
