Folios 241-242: Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Valiant, Spithead. Reports his arrival having been informed on 27 [March 1814] by the Favorite whale ship that HMS Sappho and the greater part of the Jamaica convoy had arrived at the Cove of Cork last Thursday. He also met the Union, one of the convoy that parted company from them on 20 [March 1814] and as she was one of the worst sailers of the fleet, he concludes that the greater part of it has arrived. He met HMS Actaeon yesterday from Bermuda. As she was going to the Downs she took charge of the 2 ships. Encloses his log [not present] and the state and condition of the ship.
Folio 243: enclosure with folios 241-242. Report from Robert Dudley Oliver, Captain and James Lean, Carpenter, of the defects of HMS Valiant.
