Folios 276-277: Robert O'Brien, Regulating Captain, Limerick. Acknowledges receipt of Admiralty letter of 3 August to take "all person liable" in the river and not communicate with the Mayor of Limerick until many men have been procured. At the expiration of the time limited for procuring Quota Men not a boat with turf arrived in the city and the lack of fuel caused great inconvenience.`The Mayor and Magistrates called upon him to suspend impressment which agreed to do until received Admiralty orders. They also produced a copy of the Charter of the city of Limerick under which they think they are excluded from any interference from the Impress. Requests some soldiers fom the city Garrison to help with the security of the impressed men and boys.
