Description

Folios 221-222: Hayes O'Grady, HMS Sappho, Port Royal, Jamaica. Encloses duplicates of two appointments given by Vice Admiral Stirling to the Boatswain and Carpenter of the Sappho which he hopes will be confirmed. From excellent Certificates given to him by Captains Hodgson and Rushworth in favour of Mr Stokes and from Mr Nicholls's service for four and an half years as Carpenter's Mate under his command, recommends them in the strongest manner.

Folios 223-224: enclosure with folios 221-222. Order given by Vice Admiral Charles Stirling, HMS Arethusa, Port Royal Harbour dated 9 January 1812 to Thomas Nicholls, HMS Sappho. As the Carpenter of HMS Sapphu has deserted he is required and directed to act as Carpenter of the Sappho. Signed by Hayes O'Grady, Commander, HMS Sappho as a true copy.

Folios 225-226: enclosure with folios 221-222. Order given by Vice Admiral Charles Stirling, HMS Shark, Port Royal Harbour dated 23 January 1812 to Richard Stokes, HMS Sappho. James Moore, Boatswain of HMS Sappho having been removed to the Thalia he is required and directed to act as Boatswain of the Sappho. Signed by Hayes O'Grady, Commander, HMS Sappho as a true copy.
