Folios 396-397: Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Valiant, The Glenans [Iles des Glenans]. Has been directed by Vice-Admiral of the Blue Thomas Sotheby to state the case of William Payne, Landsman, aged 24, of delicate constitution, would be able to substitute a healthy man in his place.
Folios 398-399: enclosure with folios 396-397. Petition dated 25 Jul 1810 of William Payne, Landsman. Seeks substitution from the crew on the grounds of ill health.
