Folios 386-387: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Clyde, off the Scheldt. Is directed to trial a new method of working chain pumps as fitted by Mr Wyke and goes on to discuss the trials and working of the pumps, finds them very acceptable, although only tested in calm water, commends the design for operating on the lower decks, out of the way of the action of fighting the ship.
