Description

Folios 367-368: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Clyde, the Downs. Responding to the directions, he encloses a Report from Captain Jackson of HMS Mosquito concerning his lack of a Carpenter.

Folios 369-370: enclosure with folios 367-368. Letter dated 18 September 1806 by John Holloway, Admiral of the Red, Nice to Mr. James Long, Carpenter's Mate, HMS Mosquito and copied to Mr. Clowes. Following information from Capatain Jackson of HMS Moquito that John Smith, Carpenter on board has run, you are recommended and appointed to ach as Carpenter on board.

Folios 371-372: enclosure with folios 367-368. Letter dated 13th May 1807 by Captain Jackson, HMS Mosquito off Calais to Captain Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Clyde, Walmer Road. Responding to the order for information destined for the Admiralty regarding the absence of a Carpenter on board the Mosquito. The Carpenter deserted the ship on 14th September 1806 at the Downs. Admiral Holloway was informed and James Long, the Carpenter's Mate appointed Acting Carpenter and be accountable for the stores. The latter has carried out his duties in a satisfactory manner.
