Folios 365-366: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Clyde, the Downs. Reports that the Sub-lieutenant of HMS Mosquito has been appointed to be Lieutenant of HMS leaving the ship with only one Officer on board. The Captain asks for George Crichton, currently Midshipman on the Clyde to do duty as a Sub-lieutenant. The latter has passed his examination in April.
