Folios 345-346: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Clyde, Walmer Road. Mr. Watkins of Charring Cross has made a compass following the principle described in the Captain's letter of 20th March. Following the Admiralty approval, he has ordered one to be sent for their inspection. Mr. Watkin has been asked to contact them and present his bill. Captain Owen asks for one of these compasses for his own ship. It has been proved that the compass can withstand the shock of gunfire.
