Several captains have wished to obtain this, but the Dockyards have neither a plan nor dimensions. The yoke is permanently in place and there is no longer a requirement for preparation apart from hooking the tackle. This might also be applied to a battle ship. He mentions the wheel supporters, tiller hole and maintain the use of after gun. The Captain mentions an accident on the Immortalité that would have been avoided if this practice was in use and a technique for the use of the compass during battle under heavy smoke. He wishes to send details of the construction for such a compass.
