Folios 237-238: Thomas Maude, Westminster. On passing Captain Robert O'Brien's Accounts for HM's Fireship fleet, there appears to be a deficiency of slops and stores and a debt at the Victualling Office of 38 pounds.3 shillings and 7 pence. O'Brien had been ordered by Sir Edward Pellow to prepare the ship to attempt to destroy French ships in Oleron Bay. It was necessary to throw overboard stores and provisions to clear the deck. He asks for the value of the deficiencies to be waived.
