Folios 219-220: Edward William Owen, HMS Clyde, Walmer Road. At Dungeness he ordered several of the vessels to be recaulked, directed by the Carpenter of HMS Clyde and this was satisfactory for the Captains of those vessels. He asks for the Carpenter to be paid and at the same rate as the Carpenter of the flag ship in the Downes. He mentions that there was more than 20 workmen to supervise compared to a Dockyard.
