Folios 234-235: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Immortalité, Long Reach. As requested states the cases of the six men listed, John Sheppard, Thomas Teasdale, John Fenwick, Daniel Dixon, Richart Hubert and Joseph Cook, and returns their documents.
Folio 236: enclosed with folio 234: Admiralty slip with instructions for dealing with Captain Owen's letter.
Folios 237-238: enclosed with folios 234-235. Letter dated 9 May 1803 from Thomas Blakeston to the Admiralty. Encloses several indentures and affidavits to be laid before the Lords of the Admiralty.
Folios 239-240: enclosed with folios 237-238. Letter dated 9 May 1803 from Thomas Blakeston to the Admiralty. Encloses indentures relating to John Sheppard, Thomas Teasdale and John Fenwick, who were impressed from the Jenny of Sunderland, Thomas Ayre, Master, by an officer of HMS Immortalité in Long Reach. He also represents George Ramsay, Carpenter of the Telemachus, who was impressed by an officer from HMS Melpomene at Deptford.
Folio 241: enclosed with folios 234-235. Affidavit dated 29 April 1803 and sworn by Thomas Ayre of South Shields, Co Durham, Master of the Jenny of Sunderland, before Richard Wallis Justice of the Peace, South Shields. Swears that John Fenwick is Carpenter of the vessel.
Folio 242: enclosed with folios 234-235. Letter dated 12 May 1803 from Captain Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Melpomene, Deptford, to the Admiralty. Reports that Robert Foster, said to be Mate of the Neptune, was detained because he is totally ignorant of navigation and is only a common seaman. Encloses the petition regarding him.
Folios 243-244: enclosed with folio 242. Undated petition from Richard Crofton, Master of the Neptune of North Shields, to the Admiralty. Seeks the discharge of his Mate, Robert Foster, who was impressed by men from HMS Melpomene despite the fact that he was appointed Mate on 13 April and had signed the ship's articles.
Folios 245-246: enclosed with folios 234-235. Letter dated 9 May 1803 from Joseph Donkin, London, to the Admiralty. Seeks the discharge of Daniel Dixon, Carpenter of his ship the Isabella, who was impressed on 7 May in Long Reach by officers of HMS Immortalité. His indenture is with the Admiralty as they recently ordered his discharge from HMS Antelope on Osley Bay. Postscript. He has just received the indenture and returns it.
Folios 247-248: enclosed with folios 234-235. Petition dated 9 May 1803 from John Norman, London, to the Admiralty. Seeks the discharge of apprentice Richard Hubert who was impressed by HMS Immortalité.
Folio 249: enclosed with folios 234-235. Letter dated 9 May 1803 from John Hall, the Carolina Coffee House, to the Admiralty. Encloses [not present] the indenture of his apprentice Joseph Cook.
