Folios 230-231: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Immortalité, Long Reach. Reports that Miles Amber was one of the men impressed by boats from HMS Lynx and subsequently allocated to HMS Immortalité. The proposal to discharge him on production of a substitute was made before he received the Admiralty's directions not to accept substitutes.
Folios 232-233: enclosed with folios 230-231. Letter dated 4 May 1803 from William Poppleton, 30 Tokenhouse Yard, to the Admiralty. Seeks the discharge of Miles Amber, apprentice to John Withers, Master of a vessel from Portsea. Amber is currently aboard HMS Immortalité, whose Captain has offered to discharge him in return for a substitute.
