Folio 218: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Immortalité, Long Reach. Reports that when Joseph Cook was impressed his indenture was not aboard the vessel, and that when it was later produced it appeared to be irregular. He was also more inclined to keep the man because the person who claimed him told the First Lieutenant that he should be released instantly because "his owners would not be trifled with."Folios 219-220: enclosed with folio 218. Letter dated 2 May 1803 from John Hall, the Carolina Coffee House, London, to the Admiralty. Seeks the discharge of his apprentice John Cook, who was impressed from the Argo, Jeremiah Williams, Master, at Church Hole in the River Thames by an officer from HMS Immortalité. Captain Ewerowen [Edward William Campbell Rich Owen] declined to release him, saying that as a cabinet maker he would be useful in the Carpenter's Crew.
