Description

Folios 212-213: Edward William Campbell Rich Owen, HMS Immortalité, Long Reach. Encloses a letter received from Alexander Baxter. the Russian Consul, stating that Frederick Lasariff had claimed his protection as a Russian citizen, but that his conduct has been such as to forfeit that protection. Lazariff was impressed from one of the East India ships because he was insolent to the officers who were mustering the crew.

Folio 214: enclosed with folios 212-213. Letter dated 4 May 1803 and signed by Fredk Lazerithff, apparently to the Russian Consul. He claims protection at a Russian subject born in Archangel, now aboard HMS Immortalité and about to be sent to the Nore.

Folio 215: enclosed with folios 212-213. Letter dated 4 May 1803 from Alexander Baxter, Consul General of Russia, 8 Bartholomew Lane, London, to the Admiralty. Reports he has been applied to by Friederick Lazeriff, now on board HMS Immortalité, for protection as a Russian subject but says because Lazeriff deserted from service with a Russian officer, Captain Linansky, he has forfeited his right to protection.
