Folios 254-255: Terence O'Neill, 72 Bishopsgate, London. Letter addressed to Earl St Vincent personally, saying he hopes his lordship will not be offended if he mentions that it is now 2 years since he was assured by him that he would be given a ship. His previous reminders have received only answers that 'many meritorious officers' preceded him on the half-pay list but that his lordship would be pleased of an opportunity to give him an appointment. Also enclosing a letter from David Scott dated 1 October 1801 saying that his lordship positively intended to give O'Neill a command and finally mentions that there are now 'more than 50' commanders junior to him currently in employ.
Folio 256: enclosed with folios 254-255. David Scott's letter of 1 October 1801, saying he had Lord St Vincent's personal assurance that he intended to 'bring [O'Neill] forward', as he had told him.
