Folios 237-238: Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Melpomene, Spithead. Advising that the ship's copper is 'extremely foul with mussels and barnacles' and asking that she be permitted to go into dock for cleaning - he thinks one tide would be sufficient time so there would be no delay to her service.
Folio 239: enclosed with folios 237-238. Defects of the Melpomene, 20 December 1803. Signed by Joseph Speck, carpenter.
