Date
1802 June 24
Description

Folios 306-307: James Oughton, HMS Leander, Spithead. He writes that the regard he has for Sir James Wallace prevented him for listing his nephew, Lieutenant Francis Sleigh, as run despite the fact that after only 2 days on board his ship he failed to return before his ship sailed from Deptford. Now two Bow Street Runners have arrived on board to arrest him. He needs a replacement lieutenant before he sails. In that context he notes that Lieutenant Thomas Brown is likely to get promotion.
