Folios 278-279: James Oswald, 22 Arundel Street, London. He was superceded from HMS Perseus by Lord Nelson when in the Mediterranean for the purpose of bringing despatches to England. He travelled overland. He left his accounts to be forwarded to the Admiralty, this was done with the exception of his journal. In the circumstances he asks the Admiralty to dispense with the need for the journals so that he can be paid. The enclosed affidavit certifies that he did keep his journals during the time he commanded HMS Perseus.
Folio 279A: enclosure to folios 278-279. Affidavit sworn by Captain James Osborn dated 27 April 1802 before S Kite.
