Folios 213-214: Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Mermaid, Northbank. He announces his arrival from Lisbon as ordered by Lord Keith. He encloses a copy of those orders as well as the State and Condition of his ship (the latter not enclosed). He adds that all the troops in British pay had left Lisbon before he did, except for the artillery. They were to embark a few days after he had left, on board a Transport which was being made ready for them.
Folios 215: enclosure to folios 213-214. An order from Admiral Lord Keith, Admiral of the Blue to Captain Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Mermaid dated 12 June 1802. He is ordered to take on board his ship HRH The Duke of Sussex and his suite and take them to Lisbon. He is then to offer any assistance that he may need to General John Simon Frederick Fraser, Commander of HM land forces, to remove any British troops from Lisbon. He is directed to receive as many troops as he can. Thereafter, he is to return to Spithead where he will announce his arrival and conform to the quarantine laws.
