Folios 168-169: James Oughton, HMS Windsor Castle, Torbay. He encloses a letter from Lieutenant Donald Hugh MacKay requesting that he be superceded. Vice Admiral Sir Andrew Mitchell has indicated that he agrees to this request.
Folios 170-171: enclosure to folios 168-169. Letter from Lieutenant Donald Hugh MacKay to Captain James Oughton of HMS Windsor Castle dated 14 March 1801. He notes that the Admiralty refused his request for leave of absence when he applied for it at Spithead. His financial concerns have become ever more pressing since then and so he asks to be superceded in order to attend to them and that another officer be appointed in his room.
