Folios 263-264: Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Mermaid, Minorca. Responds to a letter relative to John Johnson on his ship and states that many parts of Mr. Bulkeley's statement are false and consequently many parts of Mr. King's letter to Lord Grenville are incorrect. Advises the man is not German but was born in Amsterdam and he was not impressed on his return to the American ship and other statements by Mr. Buckeley are incorrect. Advises the Admiralty should not place much confidence in the deposition from Captain Ignacio Jose de Sylva Morsira. Advises he understands there were a number of English seamen on board the ship going to India, and if he had not been under orders to sail with a convoy, he would have thought it his duty to have followed the ship to sea in order to examine her.
