Description

Folios 309-310: Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Hazard, Spithead. Reports his arrival, having left the transports bound for Southampton off Cowes. Three vessels parted company, the Betsy, the American ship John and the Juno. His orders from Vice Admiral Robert Brice Kingsmill are to bring the petty officer and seven men belonging to HMS Santa Margarita who are aboard the John with him back to Cork, asks whether he should wait at Spithead until she arrives. Encloses a copy of his orders, a convoy list and [not present] the state and condition of his ship.

Folio 311: folio number not used.

Folio 312: enclosed with folio 309. Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Hazard. A list of the eight vessels in his convoy from Cork.

Folios 313-314: enclosed with folio 309. Copy of orders dated 26 August 1795 from Vice Admiral Robert Brice Kingsmill, Commander in Chief, Ireland, HMS Engageante, Cork Harbour, to Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Hazard. He is ordered to convoy the five transports carrying the men of the 116th Regiment to Southampton plus the American ship John and any other vessels requiring an escort, taking on board Marine recruits from HMS Engageante and HMS Apollo. Countersigned by E Vidal on behalf of the Admiral.
