Description

Folios 297-298: Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Hazard, Plymouth Sound. Reports his arrival with a convoy from Cork, he will now have his vessel caulked. Encloses a copy of his orders from Vice Admiral Robert Brice Kingsmill and a convoy list, reports that aside from the Air Balloon and the Day, the merchant vessels parted company at the Dodman yesterday on their way to London. On Sunday he spoke a Danish ship from Christiansand bound for Waterford which reported that on 1 April the French frigates Seine and Galatea sailed from Christiansand for Brest, and were thought to be going North about [the British Isles] while the Danish vessel came through the English Channel.

Folio 299: enclosed with folios 297-298. Copy of orders dated 31 March 1795 from Vice Admiral Robert Brice Kingsmill, Commander in Chief, Ireland, HMS Polyphemus, Cork Harbour, to Robert Dudley Oliver, HMS Hazard. He is ordered to Plymouth to have his vessel caulked, taking with him a convoy of any vessels bound for that port.
