Folios 471-472: James Nash, HMS Saint George. Reply to letter dated 22 July 1815 wherein you call upon him to give his opinion as to the Character and qualifications of Mr Vallock also how far he may be deserving of promotion. He states that he has been upwards of seven years serving in the Flag Ship at this Port and he should suppose he must be very deficient of Sea Matters, he has rubbed along fully fairly as a Harbour Midshipman, though his best exertions cannot be considered very great.
