Folios 267-268: Francis Newcombe, HMS Chesapeake, Hamoaze. States having sent a letter through the Commander in Chief at this Port from Lieutenant Hugh Colville Goldsmith requesting he may be superseded for reasons therein stated and should they be pleased to grant his request - He begs leave to apply for an appointment to fill his situation Lieutenant William Morris (1st) late of HMS Jason to be Lieutenant of HMS Chesapeake.
Folios 269-270: enclosure with folios 267-268. Letter dated 14 November 1814 by Francis Newcombe, HMS Chesapeake, Hamoaze, to the Admiralty. He acknowledges receipt of a Commission as Captain of HMS Chesapeake.
