Folios 265-266: William Henry Nares, [Admiralty note?] The Officer William Henry Nares has lately been promoted to the Rank of Commander and appointed to HMS Philomel: His Commission for her bears date the 1 July 1814: - but at this time he is serving as Lieutenant of HMS Havanna on the American Station. HMS Philomel you will be so good to observe is now at Plymouth and from this appointment perplexity he begs to suggest whether it may not be proper that Sir Alexander Cochrane should be directed to send Captain William Henry Nares to England. [Additional note] Captain James Hanway Plumridge has been lately confirmed to HMS Philomel so that Captain William Henry Nares must take his chance of employment whenever he comes home.
