Having received the enclosed letter from S J Ogilvie, he states the reason for the R being placed against him and explains why he thinks it should be removed on the Books of HMS Rover. [Folio 252] Admiralty, To S J Ogilvie, Plymouth, Copy to Francis John Nott.. Dated 26 August 1814. Reply to letter dated 21 August 1814. Acquaints that application to have the R removed on the Books of HMS Rover by Captain must be made by Captain Francis John Nott.
Folios 253-254: enclosure with folios 251-252. Letter dated 26 July 1814 by Francis John Nott, Gatterdam near Honiton. To S J Ogilvie. Reply to letter dated 11 July 1814, in answer to your request for the R being removed, he believes your leaving HMS Rover was not the voluntary act of your own and he should hope on appropriate representation being made to the Admiralty the R should be removed.
