Folios 134-135: William John Napier, 33 Suffolk Street. Covering letter for the enclosed order from Sir Robert Lawrie directing him to take on board HMS Goshawk General Clinton & Suite being four in number. The General was appointed Commander in Chief of the Scillian Army then serving in Spain, in the room of General Maitland and was on board one month. He requests the allowance as specified in the printed table.
Folio 136: enclosure with folios 134-135. Letter dated 24 September 1812 by Sir Robert Lawrie, HMS Ajax, Palermo Bay, to William John Napier, HMS Goshawk. Orders to take on board HMS Goshawk for a passage to the coast of Spain Major General Clinton and Suite and proceed to Alicante calling off Port Mahon for Intelligence respecting the movement of the Army under General Maitland and leaving there the men he has directed you to receive on board belonging to the [?] as also the Despatches addressed to Sir Edward Pellew Bart. Commander in Chief etc. etc. etc. You will likewise attend to any requisition from His Excellency Lieutenant General Lord William Bentinck during his absence.
