Folios 555-556: William Nowell, HMS Monmouth, Downs. Refers to an enclosed reports of the offences and punishments [not present] between 6 July and 5 October 1812.
Folios 557-558: enclosure with folio 555-556. 10 October 1812 unsigned. Note saying 'return this letter and its enclosures to Admiral Foley and ask him to inform Captain Nowell that the returns of punishments should be sent to the Commander in Chief. He should also inform Nowell that the relaxed state of discipline and severe punishments on HMS Monmouth should require that Their L lordships to approve a court martial.
