Folios 539-540: John Toup Nicholas, HMS Pilot, Malta. Refers to the enclosed acting order and a letter from the late purser of HMS Cerberus now appointed to HMS Pilot. Asks that the purser be confirmed to the position.
Folio 541: enclosure with folios 539-540. Letter dated 1 March 1812 by Admiral John Laugharne on board HMS Trident, Malta. Writes to William Allen, late acting purser of HMS Cerberus, appointing him to act as purser to HMS Pilot.
Folios 542-543: enclosure with folios 539-540. Letter dated 2 March 1812 by William Allen, HMS Pilot, Malta. Writes to the Admiralty enclosing a copy of his orders from Admiral Laugharne and asks to be confirmed in the appointment.
