Reports that he was superceded in the command of HMS Volontaire by Captain Granville George Waldegrave off Toulon and was detained in the fleet by Sir Edward Pellew for an opportunity to join HMS Cerberus then in the Adriatic. Because of the state of his health. was unable to do so
