Folios 471-472: Thomas New, HMS Raisonable, Sheerness. Responding the an enquiry asking why the chaplain Thomas Price, late of HMS Raisonable, was not provided with a certificate of service. He writes that Admiral Sir Henry Stanhope appointed Mr Price and stipulated that he should superintend a school in addition to his Sunday duty. On finding that Price had not fulfilled the second part of his engagement, the admiral called him to account and Price was discharged for ill conduct. New refers to a letter [not present] and states that under the circumstances he did not feel able to issue a certificate.
