Folios 170-171: James Neman Newman, HMS Hero, Cawsand Bay. Regarding a letter from Henry Bean pleading for help to receive a pardon; with Newman expressing the view that mercy to this unfortunate man would be of good effect.
Folio 172: enclosure with folios 170-171. Letter dated 27 June 1808, from Henry Bean, Portsmouth Harbour. Pleading for the Admiralty to intercede on his behalf so he may serve again in His Majesty's Service.
