Folios 256-257: John Nairne, HMS Favorite, Nore. He informs that he had application for a Master to be appointed to HMS Favorite after he had commissioned her. Mr George Lee Boss came to him and offered himself as Acting Master. He was induced from his good certificate of conduct from Lieutenant Robert Forbes commander of HMS Exertion from which vessel had been discharged to go into the Merchant West India Service to apply to Vice Admiral Bradley[?] who appointed him Acting Master of HMS Favorite.
