Folios 152-153: Thomas New, Regulating Officer, Swansea. Reply to letter dated 3 December 1806 and state in the case of John Phelps now on board the Tender at this Port. This man was sent to the Rendezvous about three weeks since by Lieutenant-Colonel Vangham Commanding the Prince of Wales Royal Fusiliers and who requested he be received as he had behaved in a very disorderly manner when the said Corps were under Arms. Finding on examination that the man was a Ships Carpenter & used to Boats & was a single man he was received accordingly.
Folios 154-155: enclosure with folios 152-153: [Signature unclear]. to Captain New R.N. Dear Sir As I know you are always good enough to forward the services in all Departments I shall be obliged as I am going out of Town and have not time personally to wiat upon you that you will on no account discharge John Phelps today by Captain Roberts he is either a Carpenter or Ship's Carpenter and will I have not a doubt serve his Majesty well at sea but [is tooo self willed for a Volunteer.
Folios 156-157: enclosure with folios 152-153. Petition dated 2 December 1806 of Elizabeth Phelps, Widow of Swansea. For the discharge of her son John Phelps. [Folio 157] Certificate that John Phelps is well known to them and has never served at Sea. Signed Rowland Prichard, Benjamin Burroughs, Joseph Bowen, John Davies, William Jones, Rus Bevan, Jim Llewelyn Jnr, Griffith Jenkin, D Hopkins, John Rosser and [?] Morgan.
